Senators from over 20 counties are lobbying for a change in the way the Commission on Revenue Allocation distributes money from the National Treasury.
The commission is scrutinising the parameters contained in a petition filed by Kiambu Senator Kimani Wamatangi.
The senators have filed a petition with commission that seeks to boost allocation to their counties by more than Sh1 billion.
The proposals include a consideration of a county’s revenue generation compared to its budget, efforts to raise own revenue and service pressure from populations that come from other counties.
Last month, the Commission chaired by Mr Micah Cheserem, adopted development and personal emoluments factors as additional parameters in its review.
