Interior Cabinet Secretary Joseph Nkaissery has said three journalists who published stories questioning how Sh3.8 billion was spent by his ministry are “not off the hook” yet.
He said parliamentary journalists John Ngirachu (Nation), Alphonce Shiundu (Standard), and James Mbaka (Star) must reveal where they got the information from.
The three reported in their respective newspapers on suspicious spending of the billions by the Interior ministry on security-related contracts based on the proceedings of the Public Accounts Committee of the National Assembly.
“Those reporters are not off the hook. I have to be very empathic on this. They will have to tell Kenyans where they got this information from,” Mr Nakiserry told Citizen TV on Monday during an interview.
He accused “forces working against the government” of using the media as a conduit adding that he would “smoke out” such forces.
The Cabinet Secretary said the trio will have to prove any misappropriation of funds in the ministry.
