Family Bank has opened its 87th branch in Maua Town being the third in Meru County after two others in Meru and Nkubu.
The bank’s Mt Kenya regional manager John Ndugi told the Nation during an interview in his office, that it was fulfilling its strategy of having an outlet in each of the three major towns in the region by the end of this year.
“We got a very warm reception in Maua Town and our staff were overwhelmed by the high number of customers who had come to open accounts with us. We were also aware that people had to go for long distances to access our services,” he said.
Mr Ndugi said the bank is mainly driven by the high number of medium and small-scale earners in Maua whom it targets.
“Family Bank started as a finance building society in 1984 and its aim since then has been to serve the needs of the mass market which had been ignored by the mainstream banks,” he said.
