What do a muscle rehabilitation therapist and the CEO of a Magazine have in common? Plenty, it seems.

Amondi Buyu (muscle rehabilitation therapist at Kwetu Wellbeing Place), and Brooklyn Vyolesa (CEO of Thick Curves Sensation Magazine) joined forces to come up with Runway Against Cancer show. The runway fashion event was held at Dari Restaurant on Friday, 30 October.

Designers like Kiko Romeo, Enkaya and 56 Authentic showcased their designs to an appreciative audience.

Headlining the event were renowned former model and colon cancer survivor, Bidanya Barassa, and Rebecca Omondi aka Becky, who underwent mastectomy on one breast and is still on chemotherapy.

Dorothy Nyong’o (wife to prostate cancer survivor and politician, Professor Anyang’ Nyong’o) and the guest of honour for the night, Bill Mayaka, who is also a cancer survivor and works closely with Africa Cancer Foundation were also in attendance.

The foundation has been providing free screening for prostate, cervical and breast cancer for Kenyans on the county level and have screened more than 13 thousand individuals to date.
