Vihiga county commissioner Ms Pauline Dola has warned youth against being used by politicians to cause chaos before and after the general elections.
She urged them to shun such politicians out to use them to gain political mileage. The youth are so vulnerable and therefore selfish politicians take advantage of their situation by using them to create chaos and instill fear on their political rivals, said Dola.
We must campaign in a peaceful environment. Youth who are used by politicians for their self interest should desist from such habits, said.
She appealed to the youth not to be swayed by such politicians and urged them to maintain peace before, during and after elections for economic stability in the Country.
Dola who was speaking Tuesday at Mbale municipal grounds in Vihiga Sub County said that hate mongers during campaign period will be arrested and prosecuted.
Dola added that majority of Kenyans did not wish to see another election violence as witnessed in 2007/2008 where many people lost their lives and thousands displaced.
She asked Kenyans to be peace ambassadors and reject politicians who intend to advocate for politics of ethnicity and create division among Kenyans.
We have formed peace committees in all the 25 wards in the County in a move aimed at preaching peace and advocating for non-violent elections, said Dola.
