Women leaders from Baringo County have cried foul over the criteria used by Jubilee party to nominate county assembly and parliamentary representatives.
Speaking after holding County Eminent Women meeting at a Kabarnet hotel the women leaders accused the party of presenting to the IEBC sitting MCA’s names yet there were other capable women who would have been given such an opportunity.
Led by Kabartonjo Ward Maendeleo ya Wanawake Secretary Esther Chelimo they claimed that the list of nominees presented by the party was not fair.
I want to sympathize with the women of Baringo because when a process that was meant to be all inclusive is abused then we have been taken for a ride, she said.
Mrs Chelimo expressed concern that the same mistake happened in 2013 when incompetent women leaders found their way to county assembly at the expense of competent ones.
The women leaders are therefore petitioning officials at the party headquarters to order fresh nominations for the sake of fairness and transparency.
Ewalel Chap ward chairlady Sally Rotich regretted that local women have been discriminated for long and warned that bias process where nomination is done based on friendship and nepotism should not be entertained at all.
We want the nominations to be done a fresh in a very transparent and accountable manner so that we can get good leaders who can lead and eradicate poverty in the county, Mrs Rotich reiterated.
