A woman said to have severed her lover’s genitals has appeared at a Baricho market court charged with assault and occasioning actual bodily harm.
Alice Wanjira Wachira was however not required to plead to the charge after a police officer investigating the matter indicated that he required more time to complete investigations and was likely to prefer a more serious charge against her.
Area Senior Principal Magistrate Evans Keago allowed the application and ordered that the accused be remanded at the Kagio Police station on a holding charge until Thursday October 19 when her case will come up for further mention .
She has been charged that on the night of October 8 , at Thumaita East Village, Kirinyaga West Sub-County , she willfully and unlawfully assaulted Eliud Kithaka by severing his genitals with a kitchen knife.
Wanjira, who was not represented appeared calm and unruffled when the charge was read to her.
In the same court four highway robbers said to have drugged a lorry driver before robbing him along the Makutano �Sagana-Karatina highway have been released on bond.
Susan Wanjiru, Mary Wambui, Johnson Kimani and Antony Gatonye were released on Sh 300,000 bond each and sureties of same amount when their case came up for mention today.
They were charged that on October 6, jointly with others not before the court, they drugged Mr Felix Ndambiri before robbing him of an Isuzu Lorry registration number KCF 726G valued at Sh 5 million , the property of Mr Samuel Muriuki.
The accused denied committing the offence when they appeared before the court and were unrepresented.
Their case will be mentioned on October 26.
