Two women who stole household goods from a man they allegedly drugged have been charged in a Kiambu court.
Monica Nyokabi Mugo and Victoria Wanjiru Thuku were arraigned before Kiambu senior principal magistrate Ms Stella Atambo charged that on August 15th, 2017 at Kiambu township, they jointly stole 10,000 shillings, one TV HTC make, 2 Laptops make HP,3 Hard disks,2 handbags,1 mobile phone make Infinix and 2 lessos all valued at 160,000 the property of Fredrick Ndungu.
They jointly faced another count of committing a felony by administering chloroform a stupefying drug to Fredrick Ndungu contrary to section 230 of the penal code.
The first accused faced a third count of handling suspected stolen goods contrary to section 322(1)(2) of the penal code. They were each released on a cash bail of 50,000 shilling.
Their attempts to have bail reduced were futile as Ms Atambo said it was in line with the value of the stolen goods in the case facing them.
Their case will be heard on 11th September and will be mentioned on 4th September.
In another court, a middle aged woman pleaded guilty to a charge of neglecting her child contrary to section 20 of the children’s ACT No 8 of 2001
Veronica Nyambura Wamuti appeared before Kiambu senior Resident magistrate Mr. Brian Khaemba charged that on 14th August at Wanjo area in Kiambu County, she willfully neglected and denied her 4 days old daughter care by abandoning her and failing to provide basic needs such as lactation and motherly care.
The magistrate ordered for a social enquiry report on the accused from the children officer and fixed the hearing of the case on 18TH September.
