Suspected chicken thief lynched by an irate mob in Ndhiwa

A 26 �year- old man was yesterday lynched in Ndhiwa Sub County for allegedly stealing chicken.

Mr. Kefa Achieng Nyadera was stoned to death by irate members of the public at Komi village in Kocholla sub location after he was found with stolen hens.

Confirming the incident, Homa Bay County Police Commandant John Omusanga said the suspect was stoned to death before his body was set ablaze by a mob.

Omusanga said the residents had accused the suspect of stealing hens at night and selling them to unsuspecting hoteliers.

Omusanga advised the residents to report criminal incidences to the police instead of resorting to jungle law.

I urge residents of the county to report criminals to the police and avoid lynching suspects, said Mr. Omusanga.

According to the area Assistant Chief, Richard Omollo, the suspect whose body was burnt beyond recognition, hails from Konyango location.

The body was taken to Homa Bay county referral hospital mortuary awaiting postmortem.

This incident comes four days after a 46 year old man was also lynched by members of the public at Kawuor Bondo village in Kagan West location after he was allegedly arrested with one sack of stolen green maize.
