Form four students of Kiurani High School in Maara Sub-County of Tharaka Nithi County were on Tuesday sent home after burning the school dormitory in the wee hours of the morning.
The School Principal, Nyaga Kinyua however, said that no life was lost during the fire incident, saying that the management had to take quick action by sending the culprits home.
He also said that he reported the matter to the nearby Magutuni police post and was looking forward to getting the results of their investigations.
The Principal said that following the fire incident, the school had incurred a loss of about Shs.0.9 million and properties of unknown value had also been burnt.
Kinyua said that the school administration would punish those found to have engineered others.
Mwimbi Ward administrator, Alex Munyua said that according to initial investigations, the students were demanding to go home for mid-term break.
He called upon the all school administrators to be vigilant and enhance surveillance to avert cases of unrest in schools.
