Two goals from Feni Ali, saw Sofapaka beat AFC Leopards 2-0 in a thrilling encounter at Narok Stadium on Sunday evening.
Both goals came in the first and nineteen minutes of the first half, when Ali capitalized on the AFC Leopards slow recovery and defensive blunders to drill home from a cross range and eighteen yards.
In the second half, the Leopard players organized themselves and surged forward to equalize, but Sofapaka stopper Mathias Kigonya denied them the opportunity to score.
AFC Leopards head coach Robert Matano blamed the loss to lack of concentration during the game and fatigue as a result of playing many matches.
He also noted that some of his key players, like Azizi Okaka, Salim, Omude among others, were missing due to injuries, and that those who were available for selection had match fitness issue.
AFC Leopards play Posta Rangers on October 14th 2017 and Matano is optimistic that the International break will give room for some of his key players to recover.
Sam Ssimbwa, the Sofapaka tactician applauded his players for beating AfC Leopards twice, terming it an achievement, given that Leopard is a big club.
He said it was important to register a win which would enable Sofapaka to finish strong in the League, after he lost against Kakamega home Boyz and Gor Mahia.
Sofapaka is currently lying position three with 39 points, 12 points behind Gor Mahia, who has 51 points in the Kenya Premier League.
AFC Leopards have registered only one point for the last seven matches, which was against Mathare united, and they are currently ranked position 12 in the premier league with a total of 25 points.
