Residents urged to take advantage of business opportunities

The Isiolo County commissioner George Natembeya has urged residents of the county to take advantage of the business opportunities presented by the opening of the international airport that is expected to be launched later next week.

Natembeya who was speaking during the launch of a two days training for Board of Management and principals being held at Isiolo Girl’s National school told the residents that direct employment opportunities in the airport maybe few but business opportunities will be unlimited.

You should not just wait for business opportunities to knock on your door but you should move out and seek for them. Have you applied for any business in the airport? asked the County Commissioner.

The senior administrator disclosed that the road from the airport to the abattoir is being tarmacked to ensure that livestock will be easily exported from the County to the Middle East and the rest of the world.

He called on the local pastoralists to ensure that they raise healthy livestock in order to benefit from the export business opportunities that will come up with the international airport.

Natembeya said the airport will come up with opportunities such as taxi business, food and beverages cafes, and M-pesa services amongst other financial services.

Speaking during the launch, County Director of Education Ms. Aileen Mungiria said that the training will benefit 68 primary schools and is funded by United States Agency for International Development through Ahadi Kenya Trust.

President Uhuru Kenyatta is expected to open the airport in two weeks time. The county commissioner said numerous job opportunities will be created and encouraged Isiolo residents to take advantage of the same.
