Preparations to swear Mombasa governor in top gear

Preparations for the inauguration ceremony for the re-elected Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho on Tuesday are in top gear. The scenic Mama Ngina Drive overlooking the Indian Ocean, the venue slated for the public ceremony is being retouched, renovated and cleaned by county officials. The ODM Governor and his deputy Dr. William Kingi will be sworn in by Malindi High Court Judge Justice Weldon Korir. Those invited to the inauguration ceremony include all the six elected MPs in the county and the politicians who contested in the just concluded general elections and lost. Businessman Suleiman Shahbal who run for governor on jubilee party ticket, outgoing Mombasa Senator Hassan Omar who unsuccessfully vied for governorship on a wiper party ticket and immediate former Nyali MP Hezron Awiti who also run for governor and lost on a Vibrant Democratic Party (VDP) have all been invited. Mombasa County Commissioner Evans Achoki said a security committee is already in place to take care of the security needed for the ceremony. By Mohamed Hassan
