Nyandarua County is set to host the third leg of the Athletics Kenya (AK) cross country meeting to be held in Ol Kalou town on Saturday.
Various runners training in Nyahururu have upped their preparations ahead of the meet which some will use to gauge their preparedness for international meets.
First and second leg was held in Nairobi and Sotik (Bomet County respectively early this month.
A spot check at the Nyahururu stadium revealed that runners were sharpening on their speed work ahead of the event.
Nyandarua AK Chairman Francis Mwaniki said the Saturday event will be held in a new venue and not at the usual Nyandarua Technical Training Institute ground.
We have moved the event from the Institute to a challenging ground next to Ol Kalou Stadium and we hope the runners will enjoy the new route Mwaniki said Tuesday.
The six-leg cross country series will culminate in the national cum trials for the 5th Africa Cross Country Championship in February next year in Nairobi.
The Africa event will be held in Algeria in March, 2018, according to the AK calendar of events.
After the Nyandarua event, the series will move to Iten (Elgeyo/Marakwet County) next month before moving to Kapsakwony, Mt Elgon in Bungoma County in January.
