Missing student body found floating in Sondu Miriu river

The decomposed body of a 13-year-old Form one student who had been reported missing four days ago was found Monday floating in Sondu Miriu River.

Belgut sub-county OCPD Gerald Mbae who confirmed the incident to KNA on phone Tuesday said the Form one student at Kaborok secondary school had been reported missing by her mother Beatrice Rotich on August 24 after she failed to arrive at her home at Kipasamoi village within Soin/Sigowet sub-county.

He said members of the public and police immediately embarked on a search mission for the high school student.

Mbae said people crossing the river spotted the body at 1pm and alerted the deceased’s mother who upon arrival, positively identified it to be her 13 year old daughter.

Police arrived at the scene and moved the body for post mortem at Sigowet sub-county hospital.
