Police have arrested a 62 year old man who allegedly attacked a man he suspected to be a boyfriend to his daughter with a rifle at Dubu Gindole village in Marsabit Central Sub-county.
Area OCPD Joseph Mutende said the man reportedly stormed the home and accosted the 22 year old man whom he accused of impregnating his 16 year old daughter.
Mr Mutende said Bulle Guyo Barfata who was armed with an AK-47 rifle shot thrice at his target and one bullet hit him on the right hand, injuring him seriously.
The assailant then run away but was shortly arrested by police who swung into action immediately the report was made and taken to Marsabit police station.
The police managed to recover the firearm used to commit the crime together with three rounds of ammunition.
The victim, Golicha Duba was rushed to Marsabit county referral hospital where he was admitted.
We managed to arrest the suspect and also recovered the rifle, an AK-47 and three rounds of ammunition from him, he said.
The OCPD said that the victim of the attack told police that his attacker claimed that he was responsible for the pregnancy of his teenage daughter.
He said that his attacker who was demanding an explanation as to why he had allegedly impregnated his daughter but shot at him before he could answer.
The suspect will be arraigned in court tomorrow.
The victim’s condition was described at the hospital as stable.
