A middle aged man was Thursday afternoon killed by lightening at Kipkaren shopping centre in Uasin Gishu County during a heavy down pour.
The man was struck to death while walking along the road during the heavy rainfall accompanied with hailstones.
According to an eye witness the deceased was discovered by members of public immediately the rain subsided.
The eye witness said there was lightening accompanied by thunderstorm when the incident happened.
The lightening is said to have struck twice causing fear and panic to area residents.
Confirming the incident area chief Freddrick Kiba called on the government to consider installing lightening arresters in public places like schools, churches and shopping centres in area so as to minimise lightening incidents in the area .
The body of the deceased was moved to the Moi teaching and referral hospital mortuary (MTRH).
