Kisumu County Jubilee Party leaders have condemned Wednesday’s hostile reception of President Uhuru Kenyatta and his Deputy William Ruto.
Led by County Party Secretary General, Biko Gwendo, the leaders castigated the rowdy youth who booed Deputy President William Ruto during the ground breaking ceremony of a Kenya Breweries Plant in Kisumu town for political intolerance, terming the incident unfortunate and backward.
We are saddened by the manner in which a section of the youth conducted themselves during the President’s visit; every Kenyan citizen has the right to seek any political seat and campaign anywhere in this country, said Gwendo.
He challenged the locals to shun the perception that the county is an opposition zone and instead welcome other leaders who have good intentions for the county adding that Jubilee government is development oriented and has done a lot for the lakeside county.
The sentiments were echoed by party Chairperson Atieno Otieno who alleged that the rowdy youth were hired by some known politicians to heckle and disrupt the President’s rally.
Kisumu County bodaboda chairman Nelson Odire expressed regret at the conduct of the youth on Wednesday when during the ground breaking ceremony for revival of Sh 15 billion Kenya Breweries Limited plant and has since apologized to the President for the misconduct.
