A student who shot dead and killed his colleagues in Lokichoggio Mixed Secondary School was Saturday afternoon arrested by police in Kakuma, Turkana County.
Turkana West OCPD, David Nyabuto, said the suspect identified as Abraham Lochere was arrested in kakuma area after investigations and leads from the members of the public.
According to the Turkana County Commissioner, Seif Matata, six people including a police reservist who was manning the school at night were shot dead.
However, some residents said the number could be nine.
Meanwhile, his former primary school colleague, Jackson Kalimapus, who is also at Lokichoggio Mixed Primary School, described the suspect as anti-social.
He used to be selfish and never wanted to share his belongings with other students, said Kalimapus.
He hails from Toposa in Southern Sudan.
Tension was high for the better part of the day in Lokichoggio with some residents demanding for security to be beefed up in the area.
We think if the police moved in fast enough all the culprits could have been arrested, said Kalimapus one of the residents.
A number of girls were also raped during the 2am ordeal.
