Opposition leader and NASA presidential candidate Raila Odinga Wednesday paid glowing tribute to the late Nyanza Provincial Commissioner, Mr. Isaiah Cheluget.
Odinga hailed Cheluget as a man who served all Kenyans diligently irrespective of their political or tribal leanings.
Odinga made the remarks during Cheluget’s burial ceremony at his Kusumek village home in Kericho County.
Cheluget who served as the Chairman of the Kispsigis Council of Elders until his death on June 26, 2017 was described by Odinga as a man who should be emulated by all Kenyans.
Odinga said Cheruget had a big vision for the country more so on environmental issues affecting wananchi.
Speaking at the function Bomet Governor Mr. Isaac Ruto called on the Jubilee administration to ensure that Unga was available and be accessible to all Kenyans.
He said that he would defend the devolution and that resources are fully devolved to the grassroots.
Kericho governor Prof. Paul Chepkwony called for peace and tolerance as Kenyans approach the coming general elections.
He said he will continue to defend the Jubilee government and appealed to Kericho residents to give President Uhuru Kenyatta and his Deputy William Ruto another term in office by voting them en-masse come August 8 general elections.
Others who spoke at the function were the Deputy Speaker in the National Assembly and a Jubilee aspirant for Bomet gubernatorial seat Dr. Joyce Laboso and Elgeyo Marakwet Senator Kipchumba Murkomen.
They called on the residents to vote in President Uhuru Kenyatta and his Deputy William Ruto come the elections.
Others present at the funeral included Jubilee parliamentary seat nominee for Bureti Mr. Japheth Kiptergech, area MP Mr. Leonard Sang and wananchi from all walks of life.
Wednesday some family members of the late Isaiah Cheluget attempted to block his burial through a court order claiming that the late Cheluget had taken up part of their land.
Through the family spokesman Mr. Daniel Chumo they said they were not aware of the move to block the burial as they had not seen the order and if there were any issues it will be sorted out by the clan elders.
