Ford-K party leader appoints new Secretary General

Ford Kenya Party leader Moses Wetangula has appointed a new Secretary General to replace former SG Martin Waliaula who decamped to Jubilee party during repeat presidential campaigns. Patrick Simiyu, the organizing secretary of the party will serve as an acting secretary general pending a replacement in two weeks according to the party leader. Simiyu vied for Cherangany parliamentary seat on a Ford Kenya ticket during the August 8 general election losing to Jubilee’s Joshua Kuttuny. Simiyu will serve on an acting capacity until the chairman of the party convenes a meeting to choose another secretary general, directed Wetangula. Speaking after meeting Ford Kenya officials in Kitale town, Wetangula said Waliula had shown signs of decamping from the party and was ineffective during his term. He said leaders had complained to him about the conduct of Waliaula and his ineffectiveness as the party’s secretary-general. Wetangula said his assessment of the number of people who decamped with the secretary general revealed he decamped alone. He blamed Jubilee party for using money to buy people from other parties to support the reelection of President Uhuru Kenyatta. The party leader noted that the conduct of Waliula is a culmination of what Jubilee has done in Busia County, Mombasa and in other counties saying those who fall in their trap are selfish seeking their own interests. Wetangula said residents have been alarmed and gave out fake members posing as genuine members of ford Kenya. Residents have been brave; they have listed fake members so the only liable member of ford Kenya who has moved to Jubilee in Trans Nzoia is Waliula, he assured. He said Waliula’s defection has not affected the party’s stability as some members were trying to eject him for underperforming.
