Defilement case adjourned after complainant gave birth

A Kiambu Court on Thursday adjourned the hearing of a defilement case after the complainant, 16, gave birth at Pumwani Maternity hospital, Nairobi.

The Prosecutor, Diana Orago informed Kiambu Senior Principal Magistrate, Ms. Stella Atambo that the complainant was unable to attend court and testify as she was still in the maternity hospital.

Peter Bosire Orina had been charged with defiling the minor at Karuri Township in Kiambu County on 16th January 2017 and the case hearing had been scheduled for yesterday, after he pleaded not guilty during plea taking last February.

The case was adjourned to November 3.

The same court heard two more defilement cases involving minors aged 9 and 17 years respectively.

Maurice Kamau Chege was charged with defiling a 17 year old girl on 19th January 2017, at Githurai 44 area in Kasarani sub-county.

He faced an alternative charge of unlawfully touching the private parts of the said minor.

Similarly, Dennis Mawira Kirimi was charged with defiling an 8- year -old minor by inserting fingers on her private part on 13th February 2017 at Githurai 44 within Kasarani sub-county. The two cases were heard in camera owing to the ages of the complainants.
