Controversial Kitui politician “Kitute” charged with forgery

A Kitui politician Miltonic Kimanzi Mwendwa alias Kitute was Monday charged with forgery of a motor vehicle number plate.

Kitute who appeared before Kitui Principal Magistrate Johnston Munguti denied forging and mounting a customized registration plate Kitute XXX on his Toyota Land Cruiser personal car.

He was accused of committing the offence at Mutito police station in Mutito Sub-county, Kitui East constituency on August 8, 2017. Kitute, however, termed the accusations as machinations by his political rivals to frustrate him.

He was released on a Sh.100,000 bond with an alternative of a Sh50,000 cash bail pending mention of the case on September 8, 2017.

In January 26, 2016, the politician was charged with assaulting the political aide to former Kitui Governor Julius Malombe, Mr. Charles Kyale, on February 23, 2015.

He was accused alongside former Mwingi Central MP Joe Mutambu, of squeezing and harming the officer’s private parts at Tanathi Boardroom, outside Dr Malombe’s office.

But the case was later withdrawn after Mr. Kyale forgave his assailants and dropped the charges against them.
