The Burial of the former Nyanza Provincial Commissioner (PC) Mr. Isaiah Cheluget scheduled for this Wednesday will proceed as planned despite a court order from a Kericho court stopping the funeral.
The Chairman of the Kabecherek Clan and spokesman of the family Mr.Daniel Chumo told a peress conference at the home of the former administrator that they were yet to receive the order prohibiting the burial plans at the site.
Chumo said that culturally, the Kipsigis tradition demanded that the former pc be accorded a burial befitting his social status as a clan member and also former chairman of the Kipsigis council of elders.
Wycliffe Kitur Cheluget, a last born brother to the late Isaiah Cheluget, June 30, 2017 received a temporary court stopping interment of the late pc’s remains on his farm, which the plaintiff also claimed ownership.
Kericho Senior Resident magistrate Catherine Mungania issued the order that enjoined Chelegat’s wife, Rael Chelegat, as a respondent.
However, Chumo claimed non-receipt of the prohibitive document adding burial will not be interrupted. Besides, the Kabecherek clan and the late Chelegat’s family will sort out any dispute, he concluded.
