Preparations for this year’s KCPE examination are complete with Trans Nzoia expecting 24, 256 candidates to sit for the exams.
The County Director of Education (CDE), Dickson Ogonya who was supervising rehearsals in the county assured parents and other stakeholders of the security of their children and for the exam.
Ogonya said that out of the 24, 256 candidates, 12,217 were girls while 119 were adult learners. The number of adult learners has dropped from the 169 who sat for the exam last year.
The CDE asked parents to keep away from school premises and allow learners to sit their exams with minimum interference.
However the fate of three prisoners who registered for the exams but completed their sentence remained unknown.
Speaking to the press in his office Monday, Assistant Commissioner of Prisons (ACP), Barnabas Keino said at least 20 prisoners had registered for exams compared to last year’s 26 candidates.
I am not sure if the three prisoners that finished their sentence will come and sit for the exams because they did not appear for rehearsals, he said.
