Two female teachers of Kirimon Primary School in Samburu who were attacked by pupils have finally received their transfer letters.
The school with a total of 756 pupils was closed down indefinitely 10 days ago after pupils attacked the female teachers with machetes and rungus [clubs] in the school compound injuring them in the process.
Speaking to KNA on Tuesday in Maralal town the Teacher’s Service Commission Chief Executive Officer, Nancy Macharia directed the Samburu County TSC Director of education to issue transfer letters to the teachers in the affected school for their safety.
The attackers were in a group of 12 pupils who had been suspended by the school management the previous week over misconduct.
Teachers in the school had vowed not to return to the learning institution fearing for their lives and safety.
Parents blamed female teachers for not respecting Samburu culture by punishing the boys in front of girls and shaming them thereby going against culture.
