A man killed chicken in protest

A 25 year old man was Thursday charged with killing his mother’s chicken to protest being denied love by the parents.

David Kimunyu who appeared before the Nanyuki Principal Magistrate Waititu Gichimu is alleged to have killed three chicken valued at sh 1, 600 belonging to his 47 year old mother, Milker Wambui on August 15, 2017 at Thunguri village, Nyeri County.

According to prosecution Kimunyu picked a panga and slashed the birds after complaining that his parents hated him.

He later threatened to kill the family cattle if the mother continued to deny him a chance to burn charcoal at the family farm.

In her statement, Wambui stated that her son has been troublesome since childhood and on the day he slashed the chicken he had cut some trees intending to burn charcoal but she declined sparking the anger.

The accused who initially admitted the offence but changed his mind during mitigation was released on a cash bail of sh 20, 000. The matter was set for hearing on November 15, 2017.
